couldbebetterforsure asked: A bunch of people in the fandom seem to think that because of Sabo's design and him getting Ace's fruit, he's becoming a "replacement of Ace". Do you have any thoughts on that?
I think Sabo is fundamentally different from Ace. They’ve got different…fuck it’s 1am I forget the words, but they feel different from each other. They’re connected by brotherhood and now a fruit, but Sabo could not replace Ace and I’m sure he would not want to. He’s a different brother, and a different character, with a different backstory and different motivations. Honestly I think he’ll just use the fruit to honor Ace, while also putting a different spin on it. But it won’t be the same, it’ll be different, and if it was the same I’d be seriously disappointed because I hold Oda to a higher standard than that.
